Conducting Couples Therapy
Chapel Hill
This workshop is designed to teach therapists how to effectively work with couples to achieve desired changes. It will focus on the basic dynamics in couple’s relationships and how to help couples understand and use those dynamics to grow as individuals and partners. Therapists are often frustrated when couples continue their conflict despite the therapist's best attempts to help them do otherwise. What is frequently missing is the couple's understanding of the developmental process in a couple's relationship and the need for mutual protection and safety in order to develop intimacy. Information, structure and exercises will be provided to assist therapists in helping couples understand their developmental process and create the kind of safety necessary in order to achieve a mutually fulfilling, intimate relationship and make the changes they desire.
