From Chapel Hill:

  1. Take Columbia Blvd south or exit Hwy 54 at Hwy 15-501 south.
  2. At the second traffic light (<0.2 miles), turn left (east) onto Mt. Carmel Church Road (towards the Governors Club). Set trip odometer to zero.
  3. From 15-501 travel 3.3 miles down Mt. Carmel Church Road. Landmarks: You will pass Aqueduct Conference Center (2.0 miles on the left), a BP Gas Station (2.5 miles on the left) and Whippoorwill Lane (3.1 miles on the left).
  4. Turn right onto Edwards Ridge Road, a narrow paved road just before the entrance to Governors Club. (At the corner are a green street sign and a stone sign that says “Edwards Ridge”).

From South Raleigh:

  1. From I-40 Exit 293 travel 16 miles west on Hwy 64.
  2. Turn right (north) onto Farrington Road at the Wilsonville stoplight (Hwy 1008).
  3. Travel about 9 miles. You will pass Food Lion on the right. You will pass the Governors Club entrance on the left.
  4. After Governors Club turn left onto Edwards Ridge Road. Follow instructions below.

From North Raleigh or Greensboro:

  1. Take I-40 Exit 273 onto Hwy 54 west, towards Chapel Hill.
  2. Turn left (south) at the light (at the Texaco Station and Hardees) onto Farrington Road.
  3. Go 2.0 miles and turn left onto Farrington Mill Road towards Governors Club.
  4. Go 3.0 miles and turn right onto Whippoorwill Lane.
  5. At the stop sign at the end of Whippoorwill (0.5 miles) turn left onto Mt. Carmel Church Road.
  6. At 0.2 miles, turn right onto Edwards Ridge Road. Edwards Ridge is a narrow paved road just before the entrance to Governors Club. (At the corner are a street sign and a stone sign that say “Edwards Ridge”).

ON Edwards Ridge Road:

Drive to the end of Edwards Ridge Road (0.7 miles), ignoring the numbering sequence of mailboxes. At the cul-de-sac you will see a driveway with stone pillars. The pillar on the left says “Southeast Institute” and “Joines”. Drive across the cul-de-sac and between the pillars.

Follow the “s”-shaped drive up the steep hill around to the side of the house. Park in one of the gravel parking spaces on the right along the driveway. The SEI entrance is located at the end of the driveway at the left door of the building.
