Dissociative Disorders Psychotherapy Training Program (Chapel Hill)

This training program is designed to give licensed mental health professionals the skills to effectively assess chronically traumatized clients for dissociative disorders and to treat them effectively. The program is offered through the International Society for the Study of Dissociation (ISSD). It provides a framework to aid the clinician to understand concepts of trauma and dissociation, differential diagnosis, and establishing a treatment plan for those with dissociative disorders.

The over 300-page course training manual includes an extensive array of outstanding journal articles. Participants are expected to be personally treating one or more clients with dissociative identity disorder or dissociative disorder NOS. Participants present case material and are encouraged to bring session audiotapes or videotapes for discussion. Journal articles in the training manuals are discussed. Videotapes of clinical interviews with dissociative patients are shown.
